After enjoying a nice dinner and seeing some of the sights around their neighborhood on Friday evening, Saturday was our action packed day. Our friends live only 7 blocks from Wrigley Field, so we had a nice walk to the stadium to see the Cubs play. It was a great game and was our first visit to Wrigley... and the Cubs won.
For the evening we walked about 2 blocks to the "L", where we rode the train downtown.
We went to a Spanish Tapas restaurant that was AMAZING. After our delicious dinner, we walked down to Michigan Ave. to do a little window shopping. We walked down to the Chicago River where we saw a scene from the upcoming movie, Transformers 3, being filmed. We saw an action shot being filmed where the stunt double was jumping over a partially opened drawbridge. We then saw the rest of the scene being filmed where Patrick Dempsey was running down the remainder of the bridge. Some of the streets nearby had cars blown up and wrecked along with rubble and such.
After leaving the movie set, we walked down the new river walk towards the Navy Pier.
After seeing the pier and buying a couple of souvenirs, we headed back towards our friends' house. Next up was a walk to a nearby Chicago blues bar where we saw an amazing band.
After a Sunday morning walk to a nearby deli for delicious breakfast bagel sandwiches, we were on our way back to Columbus. What a great weekend it was...great food, great city, great friends.
