Surgery with Sunshine

Cassidy had her surgery today to remove her tonsils and adenoids as well as turbinate reduction in her nose.  She was very brave leading up to the surgery and was glad to be able to take a couple of her favorite stuffed animals (including Sunshine, her rainbow colored bear) into surgery with her.  She was also really looking forward to being able to pick out a toy from the toy room in the surgery unit.  Being the good big sister that she is, she wanted to make sure that Carter got a toy too, so she helped pick out a new car for Carter at the store.
Cass was given a sedative to help make sure she did not get too anxious prior to surgery.  It helped as she got a little sleepy and loopy prior to going and did not cry at all as they wheeled her off to surgery.
The surgery went very well and she was back with us after about 90 minutes.  She was a little out of it, but wanted a popsicle.  She ate that and drank a little water and then fell back asleep.  We were released within another hour and were on our way home.  Hard to believe that when I had my tonsillectomy almost 40 years ago in the same hospital I spent several days there.
She had a good afternoon and although she was a little "out of it" most of the day, she has been quite the trooper.
